The Challange
This commission involved installing motorised roller blinds across a large expanse of floor-to-ceiling glazing in a contemporary living space. The extensive glass frontage created excessive solar glare and heat gain during peak daylight hours, while the client wanted to preserve the open feel of the room and maintain uninterrupted garden views.
A key requirement was for the blind system to blend seamlessly with the home's minimalist architecture. The installation needed to deliver precise alignment across multiple windows, conceal the operating mechanisms when not in use, and complement the existing black aluminium window frames without detracting from the overall interior design.
Our Solution
Following a detailed site survey, we specified and installed a bespoke motorised roller blind system engineered to the exact dimensions of each glazed section. Each blind was manufactured to ensure perfectly aligned sightlines and smooth, synchronised operation across the full elevation.
To achieve a clean architectural finish, the roller mechanisms were concealed behind discreet 70mm fascias, allowing the blinds to disappear from view when fully retracted. Black bottom bars were selected to match the aluminium window frames, creating a cohesive, premium appearance and ensuring the blinds became an integrated feature of the glazing rather than a standalone window covering.
The solar control fabric provides effective glare reduction and helps minimise solar heat gain while maintaining a bright interior and preserving outward views. Combined with effortless motorised operation, the finished installation delivers exceptional comfort, refined aesthetics, and a practical shading solution that complements the contemporary design of the home.
